I’m sure they mean well and that the decline of the nation’s health and sanity is all just a ghastly accident but the fact remains that from a pharmaceutical perspective, your ill health is good for profits.

The failure of the pharmaceutical paradigm to produce a nation in robust good health, the endless complications, side effects and dependencies produce some very healthy bank accounts no doubt and while one is loath to derail a high-speed gravy train, one does not have to buy into this flawed paradigm.

One can embark instead upon the path of freedom, wellness and overall good health.

Here then are some tips for keeping your immune system in good working order and thus beefed up against infections. Almost all flu fatalities had some other serious underlying health problem and flu on its own rarely kills a basically healthy human. Unfortunately thanks to our two biggest killers: our food industry and our pharmaceutical industry, there are all too few healthy humans walking around.

So the thing to do then is: a) decide to be healthy and; b) take some simple steps in the direction you have decided to go. Before you have gone very far, you will find that your stride will lengthen.

The following tips are not just good for beefing you up against flu - they are excellent for making you generally very healthy.

Make sure your levels of vitamin D are at optimum.
For this you would be best advised to see a nutritionist. Vitamin D helps beef you up against infections of ALL kinds, including the flu. I strongly recommend this step to you as one of the best and most important (and least expensive) things you can do to take good care of yourself

Avoid sugar
Sugar knocks the stuffing out of your immune system very rapidly. It is vital for you to have a strong immune system for fighting off viruses and other illness. Avoiding sugars INCLUDES avoiding fructose, which is the worst and especially high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

If HFCS had been entered into our diet by a foreign power, we would probably have regarded it as an act of war. That its agents happen to have spawned by and large on home soil, it finds sanctuary under the banner of "commerce." That is however no reason for us to collaborate with those who would destroy our health.

Avoid processed food
They contain sugars. See above

Avoid refined flour and foods containing refined flour
They promote nutritional deficiencies and chronic disease. They will actually strip nutrients from your body. Switch to whole grains instead.

Get enough rest
In this age of electric lights, television and so forth, few of us actually get sufficient rest. Our bodies are evolved from photo-sensitive organisms that way back on the evolutionary track were powered by sunlight. They came alive in daylight and shut down and became inert at night. Hence their legacy to us: our sleep cycle.

Sufficient sleep is more important than many people realize. Bodies do much of their restoration and repair work during sleep. Just as you drastically lose efficiency and it is tougher for you to concentrate and execute routine tasks when you're tired, if your body is fatigued it will be harder for it to fight off organisms that attack it, such as the flu virus.

Avoid or handle "stress"
There is much talk of "stress" but its real causes are not yet widely known or understood. It is a missing datum and a missing piece of technology, for lack of which we as individuals and our societies struggle and suffer. Exercise!
Exercise increases your circulation and the flow of blood and nutrients throughout your body. Thus the various components of your immune system circulate better and your immune system can better locate and nullify an illness before it spreads.

Take a good source of animal-based Omega-3 fats
Omega-3 fats are found in fish, seeds and many other foods and are crucial for maintaining health. At the same time it is vitally important to AVOID the trans fats.

Also known as "trans fatty acids," they are formed when natural vegetable oils are processed into margarine or shortening They are found in many other foods, such as fried foods like french fries and fried chicken, plus doughnuts, cookies, pastries and crackers.

Avoid these like the plague as they will seriously damage your overall health and your immune defenses. Big Pharma studiously neglects to mention this when it tries to sell you a vaccine that will probably do you more harm than the flu virus. Like I said earlier, there is money to be made by some from having the majority of us unwell.

Wash your hands
This simple act of basic hygiene will slash the likelihood of your spreading a virus to your nose or mouth or indeed to other people. Use a simple chemical-free soap and avoid antibacterial soaps as they do more harm than good.

Use natural antibiotics such as garlic, ginger and oil of oregano
They work like broad-spectrum antibiotics against bacteria and viruses and do not appear to lead to resistance.

Avoid hospitals and vaccines
Hospitals can be one of the likeliest places you could be exposed to infectious diseases like the flu. They are natural breeding grounds for infections. Virtually All vaccinations will Lower your immune system. They do Not make it stronger.
